LINDEN &045; The young Lady Longhorns of Marengo Academy grew a little Monday night. They beat a Sparta Academy, 44-36. They claimed their second win of the season knocking off the Sparta Lady Warriors, who was a final four team last year.

Marengo was able to get some shots inside in the first half. They led 15-9 after the first eight minutes of play. The Lady Longhorns pushed their advantage to eight by half time, 25-17. Abbey Huckabee netted 13 points after two quarters of play.

MA came out with the same intensity in the second half as they did the first. They held Sparta from making a field goal the first five minutes of the third quarter. In the process they built a double-digit lead to 30-17. However, the Lady Warriors would go on a 8-3 run to close out the quarter, but the Lady Longhorns held on to their eight point advantage.
