Riston Spurgeon Spence
DEMOPOLIS &045; Riston Spurgeon Spence, 78 died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at his residence. Funeral services will be at Fairhaven Baptist Church on Thursday, December 21, 2006 at 12:30 p.m. with Dr. Allen Atkins and the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Cemetery in Moundville with The Alabama State Troopers Honor Guard. Kidd-Robbins funeral directors of Demopolis are in charge of the arrangements. The family will receive friends at Fairhaven Baptist Church on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.
Survivors include his wife of 53, Marcella Duggan Spence of Demopolis; two daughters, Stefanie Merkel of Jackson, Hope Ann Smith of Satsuma; two sons, Phillip Spence and Dennis Price Spence all of Demopolis; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Spence was born in Moundville and has been a resident of Demopolis for 42 years. Spence, who first served for seven years as Police Chief in Uniontown, has been with the Alabama State Troopers for more than 24 years both in active law enforcement and for eight years with the driver license division and upon his retirement on April 1, 1984.
Spence a graduate of Uniontown High School, served in the United States Navy Reserve from May 1947 &045;June 1949 and served in the United States Army from June 1949- 1951, and while residing in Demopolis served in Fairhaven Baptist Church as a member, deacon and Sunday school teacher, and served with his wife in the church fellowship hall kitchen preparing meals to serve church members and other families during good times and times of bereavement. Spence in his earlier years was active in numerous civic and community affairs, including the Demopolis Band Boosters for two years and the Demopolis Quarterback Club which he served as president for three terms and was involved in the organization’s work with the Demopolis High School. He was also a former member of the Uniontown Lion’s Club.
Pallbearers will be Travis Cargile, Samuel Spence, Josh Smith, Jeremiah Dial, Gwin Etheredge, David Witherspoon, Eugene Corley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Men’s 4 Sunday School Class.

Delena Aldridge
CHICAGO &045; Delena Aldridge, 82 of Chicago, formerly of Demopolis died on December 13, 2006 at Alden Town Manor Nursing Home in Cicero, Ill. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the First Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Jefferson.
The Rev. Edmond Charleston will officiate. Interment will follow in Scott Memorial Cemetery in Jefferson.

Harrison Carter
DEMOPOLIS &045; Harrison Carter, 72 of Demopolis died on December 15, 2006 in Gallion. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 23, 2006 at the St. Paul Baptist Church in Demopolis. The Rev. Charlie Moore is the pastor. The Rev. Nathaniel Carter officiant. Interment will follow in Limestone Cemetery in Gallion. The remains will repose at the church on Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m.
