Two robberies Friday have the Greene County Sheriff’s Department on the trail of a single suspect.

Sheriff Johnny Isaac said they received reports of two separate incidents, which they feel confident were committed by the same person because of the locations, nature of the crimes and descriptions of the victims.

The suspect used two different techniques to achieve the same result. In the first incident, the suspect arrived at the home of an 86-year-old male asking for $10. When the man refused to give the suspect money, Isaac said, things got ugly.

“The suspect walked him out to the car and hit him in the side of the head with a pistol,” Isaac said. “The suspect then took $43 from his wallet.”

Soon after the first incident, the suspect struck again.

Greene County resident Stephen Bell alerted authorities he had been robbed in similar fashion.

“He stated the suspect came to his house asking about somebody who was not there,” Isaac said. “Then the suspect asked for money and when he said no, the suspect pulled a gun, put it to his head.”

Bell’s wallet was on the nightstand, which the suspect took and escaped with $16.

Isaac said he was not sure if drugs were a factor [in the case.]
