Demopolis gets nudged

DEMOPOLIS &8212; Yesterday&8217;s soccer match between two of the top 5A girls soccer teams, proved to be a drag out contest. After 90 minutes of play, the No. 2 ranked John Carroll Lady Cavaliers found themselves up 2-1 over the No. 4 ranked Demopolis Lady Tigers.

The first half of the contest was played almost even, though the Lady Tigers spent much of the half on the defensive end. However, John Carroll led 1-0 after the first half of play. Its goal was scored off the back of a Demopolis player.

The Lady Tigers got its only goal midway through the second half. Megan Keen was credited with the goal and assisted by Maria Brooker and Keely Rodrigues.

Demopolis boys bow to Cavaliers

The Demopolis Tigers knew what they were up against when the John Carroll Cavaliers, who are ranked No. 1 in the state, came to town.

John Carroll showed why they are the number one team, as they beat Demopolis 9-0.

The Cavaliers put the ball in the net five times in the first half. They scored its first four goals of the game off corner kicks. The Tigers couldn&8217;t match the poise and skills of John Carroll.

The Cavalier netted its final four goal in the second half of play.

The Demopolis soccer teams will go on the road to face Bryant on Friday.
