DEMOPOLIS &8212; In order to provide a change of pace and draw participants that might otherwise pass on the opportunity, the Demopolis Kiwanis Club is hosting a 5K run with a twist. A midnight twist.

The club is hosting a 5K (3.1 mile) race at the Demopolis SportsPlex on June 29 that will begin at 12 a.m. to help raise money for its charitable beneficiaries.

Participants of the race will meet at the pavilion at the SportsPlex at 11 p.m. the night of the race to register, which will cost $15. After all of the pre-race work is complete runners will start at the pavilion and traverse the course.

Though the race will be a way to have fun while raising money, Brooker said the race will be a timed event. He said prizes will be awarded to winners.

Brooker said prizes will be given to the top three overall runners from each division, as well as the top three overall and a master&8217;s division for ages 40 and up.
