Someone needs to cut the grass at the river landing park. It is to the point that enjoying the facilities is hindered because of tall grass.

This may seem a minor issue, but it truly is not. The landing is a high profile place when it comes to citizens, who like to enjoy the outdoor amenities with their families.

Over the past week, individuals and groups alike could be found at the park, and inevitably small children could be seen &8220;high stepping&8221; through the grass to get to the playground equipment.

If the city cannot provide adequate upkeep for such facilities, they will soon become desolate and unused, which would be a great travesty considering the amount of time and money that goes into creating these facilities.

This summer has been fickle, with drought conditions killing the grass and multi-day rains replenishing them and sending stalks tall. Trying to keep yards manicured has been a bit of a challenge, for certain.

But this is a public facility, and more is at stake than just aesthetics and enjoyment. Tall grass that traps water can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other insects.

A couple of hours worth of work will rectify this problem. More attention to detail will keep it from continuing in the future.
