Fund set for accident victim

DEMOPOLIS &8212; A fund was established for Loretta Hunter of Demopolis, who was severely injured in an automobile accident Sept. 13 on U.S. Highway 80 in Demopolis, at Robertson Bank in Demopolis.

Hunter received multiple injuries in the accident, including a broken neck, arm and ribs. Sullivan said Hunter is in stable condition, but is expected to remain in the intensive care unit at DCH in Tuscaloosa for the several weeks. Sullivan also said Hunter will wear a halo because of her broken neck.

Donations can be made to assist Hunter with her expenses to the fund in Hunter&8217;s name at any Robertson Bank branch.

The accident in which Hunter was injured in took place during the early morning Sept. 13 on Highway 80 near Jefferson Road and involved Hunter&8217;s car, a Ford Taurus and a log truck.

According to authorities on scene, the wreck occurred around 8 a.m. at the intersection. A log truck traveling west on Highway 80 collided with Hunter&8217;s vehicle traveling on Jefferson Road. A third vehicle, a semi-truck stopped at the traffic light, was struck by the two vehicles as they were dragged down the highway.

&8220;We believe one of the vehicles may have run the red light,&8221; Demopolis Public Safety Director Jeff Manuel said at the scene of the accident.

Police are investigating what lead to the accident.
