URIAH &8212; The undefeated Marengo High School Panthers are looking to keep their streak alive with a big win on the road against a 2-1 J.U. Blacksher.

Both teams come into today&8217;s game with a lot on their shoulders. Good seasons thus far have placed them in the top of 1A but floating outside of the top 10. Even with a loss, Blacksher is closest to making the rankings, receiving five votes, while the undefeated Panthers aren&8217;t getting much help with one.

Marengo High head coach Scottie Jones knows his team is heading into a tough match up.

Jones&8217; team this season has played well in their match ups largely due to such a powerful defensive unit. His team has, twice already, shut out their opponent and consistently has a number of players in double-digit tackles on a game.

Jones&8217; group&8217;s soft spot right now, the offense, is also coming around. The team relied on the run for production during their first two games before opening it up in the air last week in their 28-0 win over J.F. Shields.

And Jones is paying attention to Blacksher&8217;s system as well as his own heading into game.

Jones said his defensive unit will work to stop or limit the run, but he also expects Blacksher to bring a lot of men into the box against Marengo&8217;s offense to do the same.
