THOMASTON &8212; This afternoon the AL Johnson Lady Eagles are kicking off their 2007-2008 season at home against rival Marengo High School.

Normally a big game between two schools, the matchup has even more importance for the Eagles and the rest of their season this year in particular. Its importance this year hinges on the Eagles need for team unity and early success as the young team builds experience.

Wolf said the exeunt of the large senior class has left its mark on the team, as they struggle to find a new identity. The team is lead by four juniors, two of which don&8217;t have much experience on the court.

Wolf said the group is largely learning as they go, so today&8217;s first game will be a trial by fire. She also noted every starter today will be a first-time starter for the Eagles.

Wolf said the team has had some playing time together this summer, which could be a tremendous help especially early on in the season. She said the biggest attribute the team has right now is that they work together as a team, learning and growing as a group.
