LINDEN &8212; Council members agreed Tuesday that the Second Annual Linden Christmas Parade of Lights held on Dec. 7 was a success.

According to King, some people are already planning their floats for next year, both business owners and school and church groups.

Terry Tyson, head of public works, was heavily involved in the process of setting up and cleaning up for the parade. He said he and his crew were &8220;pumped up&8221; about the event, which was success in their view as well.

Another success for the parade was the presence of University of Alabama&8217;s mascot &8220;Big Al&8221; and Auburn University&8217;s mascot &8220;Aubie&8221; as the parade&8217;s grand marshals. City administrator Cheryl Hall said they were a &8220;big hit.&8221;

In other discussion about the parade, the council dispelled a rumor that it would be moved from a night parade to a day parade. Several council members said there were no plans to do so.

In other business:

The city received $692 from Alabama Power Company to be used for beautification purposes.

The council approved a one-time pay raise for city employees for the holidays. They voted to approve and extra $200 for department heads and $100 dollars for city employees.

Council members are expected to discuss possible salary increases for the mayor and council members to be determined by February before elections in August.
