John Grindle of Linden was awarded a $50 cash prize, Coleitha Phillips of Demopolis was awarded a $100 cash prize and John Oakes of Linden was awarded a $150 cash prize.

According to Jeanette Washington, who pulled the winning names, within 35 minutes the three winners had their cash awards and all seemed extremely happy to receive them.

In total, the Linden Industrial Development Board awarded $600 in cash s between the drawings.

During the holiday season, shoppers who spent $10 or more could register to win the prizes. The first drawing was during Linden&8217;s Second Annual Night Christmas Parade.

According to Dixon, the idea to offer incentives for shoppers to shop locally was in part to help ease holiday shopping frenzy. Furthermore, the high price of gas may have restricted people from traveling to do their Christmas shopping, and this was a way to let people know much of their shopping needs oould be met in Linden.

The project was intended to help the local economy of Linden on behalf of the businesses and the citizens during the holiday season.
