MENA, Ariz.

&8212; Samuel Edward Barr, 89, of Mena, Ariz., and formerly of Nanafalia, died on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008, at Rich Mountain Nursing Home and Rehab in Mena. Funeral services were held at Geneva Presbyterian Church at 2 p.m., on Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, with the Revs. Scott Armstrong and Sidney Hill officiating. Burial was at Geneva Presbyterian Church Cemetery, in Sweet Water. O&8217;Bryant Chapel Funeral Home in Linden directed.

Barr was born Jan. 24, 1918, in Nanafalia. He was a retired rural mail carrier.

His first wife, Marguerite Barr, and second wife, Esther Barr, precede him in death.

He is survived by two sons, Howard Barr and wife, Rowena, of Mena, Ariz., Phillip Barr and wife, Gigi, of Madison, one brother, Alfred Barr and wife, Sue, of Nanafalia, one sister, Jackie Miller, of Jacksonville, Fla.; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Active pallbearers were Andreas Barr, David Barr, Allan Barr, Michael Barr and Martin Barr. Honorary pallbearers were men of Calvary Baptist Church in Mena.
