Lady Bobcats tripped by Sumter County

UNIONTOWN &8212; The Lady Bobcats of R.C. Hatch didn&8217;t fare as well as the boys in Friday night&8217;s final game of the season. The young Hatch team lost to a good Sumter County Lady Wildcat team 56-41.

The Lady Bobcats played well for two quarters, but Sumter County&8217;s patient half court offense delivered in the second half to take charge of the rest of the game.

Ashley Wilkins and Ebony Smith provided all the offense for Hatch, but the Lady Wildcats held a 15-13 edge after the first quarter.

The offense for the Lady Bobcats sputtered in the second quarter. They managed just seven points in the quarter, while going scoreless the last three and a half minutes for a 26-20 half time deficit.

It was in the third quarter where the Lady Wildcats displayed its athletic ability. They scored 12 of its 17 third quarter points in the paint, posting up for east baskets. Hatch fell deeper in its hole, 43-29 after three.

The Lady Bobcats couldn&8217;t get any closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

SC&8217;s Jamesha Watkins netted a game high 20 points. Wilkins led Hatch with 19 points and Smith chipped in 15.
