Miss UWA pageant to crown Thursday

LIVINGSTON &045; Six students from across Alabama will vie Thursday for the title of Miss University of West Alabama including Gallion native Savanna Dickson.

Dickson, a nursing major at UWA, will sing &8220;Old Time Rock and Roll&8221; during the talent segment of the competition.

Other contestants include: Kaley Hayden, an elementary education major from Livingston, who will perform a piano solo, &8220;Bewitched;&8221; Stevi Bolen, a English major from Jackson who will sing &8220;Via Dolorosa;&8221; Jessica Tucker, a Gilbertown native majoring in nursing, who will perform a piano solo, &8220;Almost Lover;&8221; an elementary education major, Traneshia Stoudemire of Andalusia, who will perform a dance to Van Morrison’s &8220;Moondance&8221; and Mahalia Gray majoring in nursing from Northport will sing &8220;Time to Say Goodbye.&8221;

The annual public program will select a campus representative to the Miss Alabama pageant, a Miss America preliminary held this summer in Birmingham. The pageant begins at 7 p.m. in Bibb Graves Auditorium. Admission is free.
