Demopolis High School Lady Tiger standout Valissa Sams was chosen Saturday night as Most Valuable Player during the 5A Area 4 Tournament Championship on Saturday night, and deservingly was chosen as player of the week. During the tournament, the Lady Tigers defeated Dallas County, 53 &045; 19 on Thursday night and Wilcox Central, 55 &045; 43 on Saturday night. Sams was also chosen by the Demopolis High School basketball coaching staff as one of three players from the girls&8217; team selected as players of the week last week.

Head coach Tony Pittman described Sams as &8220;a coaches dream.&8221;

Pittman said he can always count on Sams to play at a consistent level during each game.

Sams will continue to lead The Tigers during their sub-regional playoff game against Sylacauga at 7 p.m. Friday at the Demopolis High School gymnasium.
