On Saturday night, The Lady Tigers took on The Wilcox Lady Jags and claimed the area championship winning 55-43.

After the game, the Lady Tigers&8217; coach Tony Pittman said, &8220;We played great defense in the second half and we look forward to the Thursday contest against Sylacauga.&8221; He said, &8220;We need a big crowd to help pull this one off.&8221;

The Lady Tigers started the game a little slow and trailed 15-10 at the end of the first quarter.

In the second quarter, Demopolis played great defense and cut the lead to three going into the half.

The second half belonged to The Lady Tigers as they stepped up and forced The Jags to eight with 12 turnovers and took a 40-39 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the final period, Demopolis decided to milk the clock and held on to win the game.

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Jasmine Simmons with 13 points.

Top scorer for The Lady Jags was Sheremy Johnson with 13.

The Lady Tigers face Sylcauga High School at 6 p.m. Thursday night at the DHS gymnasium in Class 5A Central sub-regional playoffs.
