Lady Tigers head to state

DEMOPOLIS &8212; &8220;We played tenacious defense in the first half and we must continue to work hard in order to keep winning,&8221; Demopolis Head Coach Tony Pittman said. &8220;We applied a lot of pressure and forced a lot of turnovers.&8221;

Demopolis Lady Tigers came out ready to play against the Sylacauga Lady Aggies on last night. The Lady Tigers opened the game playing outstanding defense and led at the end of the first quarter 14-4.

In the second quarter, Demopolis slowed down the pace and took a 18-5 lead in to the half. The Lady Tigers held The Aggies to only one field goal in the first half. In the third quarter, Demopolis came out and put tremendous pressure on Sylacauga and held them scoreless. The Lady Tigers found themselves leading 26-5 going into the final period.

The fourth quarter was like a roller coaster ride as Demopolis coasted to a 44-12 victory over Sylacauga.

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Jasmine Simmons with 12 points and assisting her was Jasmine Hardy with 10.

Leading scorer for The Aggies was Chiquita Kirkland with 5 points.

The Lady Tigers will travel to Montgomery on Tuesday and play at noon.
