DEMOPOLIS &045; When word of an alleged inappropriate relationship between a Demopolis High School faculty member and a student reached Dr. Isaac Espy and Dr. Wayne Vickers Friday afternoon, the swiftness of their response was met with a positive reaction from the athletic department.

According to DHS athletic director Tom Causey, he was informed of the situation Friday afternoon, shortly after Vickers and Espy had learned of it.

Causey, who could not confirm the identity of the individuals said to be involved, also learned Friday afternoon that the faculty member who would be resigning was a member of the DHS athletic department.

Causey also could not comment on his relationship with the athletic department member, but did say he was stunned upon hearing the news.

Causey said he was impressed with the swiftness of the administration’s reaction to the situation.

Causey described the atmosphere surrounding the situation as a &8216;whirlwind’ but acknowledged that classes being out for Spring Break this week provides some degree of assistance in allowing everyone involved to attempt to mentally deal with the ramifications of the allegations.
