MARION &8212; Bessie Harris Shiller, 94, of Marion, died Monday, April 21, 2008, at her home, in Marion. Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008, at the Marion City Cemetery with Cantor Jessica Roskin officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Shiller was born on Jan. 9, 1914, in Memphis; she was the owner and operator of Nathan Harris Sons for more than 50 years.

Her husbands, Joe Harris and Louis Shiller, precede her in death.

Shiller was active over the years in the Pilot Club, Triad Club, Marion Garden Club and Antiquarian Society. She was an avid bridge player and her favorite pastime was cooking for her friends and family. She served as chairman and worked with the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.

Survivors include her sons, Nat Harris and wife, Lois, of Gulf Breeze, Fla., Gene Harris and wife, Jean, of Marion, Sam Shiller and wife, Linda, of Tuscaloosa and Robert Shiller and wife, Ann of Alabaster; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
