Last week school students in Demopolis were treated to a day

outside of the classroom and in the sunshine as they jumped in

moonwalks and rode hayrides as part of Schoolfest 2008.

On the surface, the day looked like a reason to enjoy the good weather, but at the heart of the event is the desire to help the school system by raising funds for the Demopolis City Schools Foundation.

Each student who participated did their part by offering a contribution to the event. In return they got a pleasant change of routine.

This fundraiser was not only a

creative way to put money back into the schools, but also just one of many ways the foundation assists Demopolis City Schools.

We applaude their efforts in both raising funds for the school and instilling in Demopolis&8217; children the importance of giving back.
