DEMOPOLIS &8212; Residents at Woodhaven Manor Nursing Home put on their Sunday best Thursday in early celebration of Mother&8217;s Day.

Tables lined with linens and fresh flowers were just the extra touch to an afternoon complete with tea and refreshments. Two of the home&8217;s residents, Willie Bowden and Carolyn Miller &8212; the oldest mother and the youngest mother &8212; received special recognition.

Amy Davidson, an LPN, has worked at Woodhaven for 10 years, and this event is one of the most popular among their residents, the majority of which are female.

Davidson said the day is a time to honor not only those who have been mothers but also honor those who have been like mothers to many children, like Inez Stevens.

Julia Foster, Stevens&8217; sister, has been coming to visit for this event for a number of years and has been pleased each year with the special attention paid to her sister.

Mattie Hunter, originally from Gallion, was visited by one of her daughters, Hollie White, as part of the Mother&8217;s Day tea. Her daughter helped her to look her best in a green pantsuit and a hat complete with a peacock feather.
