GREENSBORO &8212; James Bennett Oakes, 83, of Greensboro, died May 8, 2008, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Graveside services are set for 3 p.m. today at Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Arthur Thomas and James I. Davis presiding. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel will be directing.

Survivors are his wife of 63 years, Bernice E. Edmonds Oakes; his son James W. &8220;Woody&8221; Oakes, of Greensboro; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Anderson, Randy Brown, Ronnie Thomas, Jack Hazelrig Jr., Brandon Oakes and Alex Harper.
