FORKLAND &8212; Venolia Haywood Armstead, 83, of Forkland, died recently at Bryan W. Whitfield Hospital. Funeral services were held at noon, Friday, May 16, 2008, at Old Green Oak Baptist Church in Forkland. The Rev. Ronald Craig is the pastor. Elder Jimmy Fields officiated. Sis. Iris Sermon is the mistress of order. Interment followed in Old Green Oak Cemetery in Forkland. Larkin&Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis were in charge of the services.

She was preceded in death by her son, Johnny Armstead; grandson, Undray Haywood; her siblings, Christine Haywood, Joe Haywood and Earline Haywood Coats.

Survivors include three children, Mary Armstead Page, of Forkland, Octavia Chavis and husband, Kanawha, of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Jerome Stallworth of Chicago; her siblings, Bettye Ezell, Julia Waller, Lula Trainer, Mahalia Page and husband, Wilbert, of Mobile, Ada Miller of Buffalo, N.Y., Carrie Sanders of Canton, Ohio and Clarence Haywood and wife, Eliza, of Belvedere, Ill.; 13 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
