ANDALUSIA &8212; Demopolis High School defensive coordinator Brian Seymore was hired as the Andalusia football coach at a meeting of the Andalusia Board of Education Thursday.

Seymore was the defensive coordinator at Andalusia from 2006-07 under coach Tom Causey.

For Seymore, it reunites him with the school and community he forfeited in order to remain a part of Causey&8217;s staff.

Seymore replaces Heath Harmon, who spent the last season at Andalusia and compiled an 11-2 record before leaving to take the head coaching position at White Plains High School.

He was the candidate chosen following an interview process that took place on Tuesday and Wednesday, in which nine candidates were narrowed down to one.

The board of education approved the hiring by a 4-0 vote.

Seymore joined Causey&8217;s staff in 2006 after previously serving as head coach at Pike Liberal Arts Academy, an AISA school in Montgomery.

Despite Seymore&8217;s familiarity with the program and community, McAnulty emphasized it was his personality and credentials which earned him the job.
