With his team down 6-5 in the bottom of the sixth inning of Thursday&8217;s championship game against the McDonald&8217;s Mariners, A&8217;s second baseman Jeremy Foster was set to lead off.

A lot of athletes in his age bracket and some years older may have buckled under the pressure of such a situation. Perhaps it was the obliviousness that accompanies the innocence of his youth or his pure, genuine love for the game. Maybe it was a glimpse of some deeper-running tenacity that could display itself on larger stages as he progresses through life.

Whatever it was, Foster, representing the tying run, stepped to the plate and coolly stroked a triple to start the inning. He soon scored that game tying run, setting the stage for teammate Miller King to score the winner on a Dalton Holtzclaw single.

The hit was impressive, but not the one Foster chose to reflect on following the game.
