Standing in the parking lot between New Era and the football field, Alex Morris looks like anyone would just one hour before graduation starts &8212; nervous. Morris is shy, he shifts his weight from one foot to the other as he talks and sometimes finds it difficult to speak. He is one of many seniors to leave Demopolis High School behind on earlier this month.

Morris, who wants to take up welding at one of three institutions &8212; Alabama Southern Community College, Wallace Community College or Shelton State Community College &8212; has spent his high school years as a productive member of DHS athletics. While in school, Morris played football, ran track and spent a good bit of time in the weight room. Morris said he only wishes he had just a little more time in school.

The past four years went by so fast he really was not ready to graduate, he said.

There are some things Morris said he will always remember.

Morris said he has some advice for all of the friends he is leaving behind in Demopolis High School.

When asked about what he hopes his peers will remember of him, Morris said, &8220;I only hope that while I&8217;m away at school people will say that I am a caring individual who is always willing to give a helping hand.&8221;

After college Morris wants to work for a construction company and in the next 10 years he hopes to have a stable job and be working on having a family of his own.
