THOMASTON &8212; Saturday&8217;s second installment of the Roderic Cade Memorial Football Camp at A.L. Johnson High was a day that brought together not only players from six area schools, but also united the coaches of those programs.

The camp&8217;s success was largely contingent on the collaborative efforts of the coaches from R.C. Hatch, Sunshine, John Essex, Greene County, Marengo High and host school A.L. Johnson.

The idea originated from Jones&8217; previous experiences working with a football camp in Uniontown that relied on a group effort from several local coaches.

For many of the coaches, the camp served a renewal of long-standing relationships.

Jenkins&8217; relationship with camp organizer Mose Jones dates back nearly 20 years to when the pair coached against one another at the junior high level.

While they worked to provide instruction to camp attendees, many of the younger coaches were also afforded the opportunity to learn from their more experienced counterparts.

In addition to working to enhance the players&8217; on-field techniques, the coaches, unwittingly or otherwise, also provided a strong lesson in the importance of relationships.
