DEMOPOLIS &8212; Jason Cannon has been named publisher of The Demopolis Times, dempolistimes.com and affiliated shoppers and vice-president of Boone Publications Inc.

Cannon will be publisher of The Clarke County Shoppers Guide, The Green-Hale County Shoppers Guide, The Wilcox County Shoppers Guide and The Marengo County Shoppers Guide.

Cannon comes to Demopolis after serving as publisher and editor of the Franklin County Times in Russellville. Prior to publishing the Russellville newspaper, he was managing editor of The Clanton Advertiser.

Cannon said he looks forward to moving to Demopolis and meeting the community.

The Birmingham native graduated in 2003 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a bachelor&8217;s degree in journalism. Cannon has won numerous awards for his newsroom work and was a member of the Franklin County Rotary Club and Alabama Cattleman&8217;s Association.

In his spare time, Cannon and his wife, Tiffany, enjoy competitive barbecuing, including recent participation in the competition at Demopolis&8217; annual Christmas on the River celebration.

Cannon, his wife and their 3-year-old daughter, Lizzie, will relocate to Demopolis in the coming weeks. Tiffany will lead the retail advertising department at The Demopolis Times.
