LIVINGSTON &8212; Linden&8217;s 11-12-year-old Dixie Youth all-star team finished off its unrelenting run through the District 8 tournament Tuesday night at Jaycee Park with a 13-2 win over their Demopolis counterparts.

Tuesday&8217;s championship win saw Linden post eight runs in the top of the fourth inning to put the game out of reach.

In the contest, Chandler Stenz scored three runs to lead the way for Linden. Anna Michael Crocker and Catie Tucker each added two while Conner Etheridge, Kimberly Moore, Andrea Edmonds, Shauntele Gray, Felesia Dukes and Nicole Parten each crossed home once.

Linden carried a 13-0 lead into the bottom of the fourth before Demopolis showed its first signs of life. Meredith Mackin reached on an infield his before taking two additional bases on a throwing error to start a rally. Demopolis broke through for two runs in the inning, but not before Stenz stole the show and the momentum with a diving backhanded catch from her second base position that prevented at least one run from scoring.

Mackin and Olivia Brame scored the only two Demopolis runs of the night, culminating the team&8217;s season with the second-place trophy.

For the Linden girls, their dominance began Saturday when they launched a stretch of five games in which they outscored opponents 82-5.

Linden now moves on to represent District 8 at the state tournament.
