The City of Linden and Marengo County lost one of their great leaders last week. Linden Mayor Roy Pascal &8220;Pat&8221; Vice died last Tuesday after battling lung cancer for three years.

Mayor Vice was known for his love of politics and the City of Linden. His son, Chip Vice said, &8220;His family came first, but the City of Linden was second,&8221; of his father&8217;s feelings toward his home.

A Sweet Water native, Vice, brought his family to Linden after serving in the Navy for 20 years. As a resident of Linden, Vice&8217;s vivacious personality kept him in touch with the citizens of Linden and his fun character allowed him to get to know a wide variety of people. It is because of his friendly and magnetic personality that many credit the advancements made for the city. One of his best qualities was getting to know people and because of his connections in places such as Montgomery, progress was made during his tenure as mayor of Linden.
