PLANTERSVILLE — The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department wants Selma citizens to be on the lookout.

Justin Collins, 17, ran away from his home on Lovelady Drive in Plantersville between 10:45 p.m. Sunday and early Monday morning.

Investigator Mike Granthum of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department is heading up the investigation.

“The last time he was seen was in Robertsdale,” Grantham said. “That is an area near the beach.”

Collins left in a 1998 grey Toyota 4 Runner with an Alabama license tag number 71307AT.

He wore a red cap with a white M on the front.

Two white juveniles and one black juvenile were present in the car.

One of the juveniles’ parents knew that their child was going to the beach. They were expected to return Thursday.

Sheriff’s officers do not believe Collins is being held against his will or is in danger.

Collins contacted his preacher on Tuesday.

He attends school at Maplesville High School.

Sunday night his father, Chris Collins, caught Justin attempting to run away.

“His father stopped him from going out of the window,” Grantham said.

This is the first time he has run away.

“He has never done anything like this before,” Chris said.”

His parents, Chris and Jini Collins, want Justin to know they miss him.

“We love him a lot,” Chris said. “We are concerned about his well being and safety. We just want him to come home.”
