Christmas is still more than four months away but it’s never too early to being preparation.

The Demopolis Singers will begin rehearsals for their holiday shows Sept. 8 at the old school at 6:30 p.m.

Local singer Karen Davidson said this year’s show could be one of the best yet.

“We are getting new sound equipment this year courtesy of the Black Belt Arts Foundation and also a fantastic new keyboard,” she said. “It’s going to sound amazing.”

Davidson said, as good as the new equipment will sound, it would sound much better with fresh, local voices.

“We still need more voices to help fill in the gabs so if you enjoy singing whether you can read music or not, come on down to rehearsal anyway and sit in on a few sessions,” she said. “I’m sure you’ll see it’s not as difficult as you imagine it to be.”

This year’s selection of songs, Smith said, promises to provide high quality holiday entertainment and the more singers that come, the merrier.

“We have a ton of fun and the line of songs this year is great,” she said. “I promise you won’t have ‘audition’ to be in the choir.”
