Linden HS holds 20 year reunion

Linden High School Class of 1988 celebrated its 20-year class reunion Aug. 1 – Aug. 3.

In order to make this reunion a memorable success, classmates traveled from Birmingham, Georgia, Huntsville, Tuscaloosa and even as far as Okinawa, Japan.

On Friday, Aug. 1 the classmates hosted a Hawaiian luau- style banquet and a dance at Majo’s Activity Center.

The banquet guests included parents, spouses and children of some of the classmates, as well as their former principal and his wife, Mr. And Mrs. Charles Arledge.

Also, former faculty and staff attended the banquet, which included, former senior class advisor Ms. Tharesa Nicholson, Mrs. Edith Easley, Mrs. Mattie Richards–Herd, Mrs. Sammie L. Eubanks, Mr. Columbus Rowser, Coach Luther Davis and Coach Cecil Robinson.

The guests were served a Hawaiian dinner, which included Kailua pork, Hawaiian chicken, pineapple meatballs, steamed rice, mixed green salad, macaroni salad, Hawaiian rolls, pineapple upside down cake, watermelon baskets, fruits and home-made tropical island punch.

The classmates gave a memorial tribute, which honored a deceased classmate, Mr. Eric Lucy, as well as former deceased teachers. The activity center was decorated with aloha-style décor.

On Saturday, Aug. 2 the classmates hosted a picnic at Chickasaw State Park and then a dinner and class meeting at Pizza Hut. On Sunday, Aug. 3 the classmates attended church at First Baptist Church in Linden.
