Emily Griffin, a second-grader from Westside Elementary School, was crowned the 2008 Little Miss Christmas on the River at the pageant held at the Demopolis Civic Center last night.

Griffin was one of 50 contestants taking part in the pageant, held for girls in kindergarten through second grade.

The 2008 Little Miss Christmas on the River court included Brianna Gandy Doss, first alternate, a kindergartener from Westside Elementary School; Aundria Murdock, second alternate, a first-grader from WES; Anna Katherine Aldridge, third alternate, a first-grader from WES; and Lindsey Grace Murphy, fourth alternate, a second-grader from WES.

The rest of the top 10 included Blakley Colgrove, a second-grader from WES; Racheal Halkias, a kindergartener from WES; Jordyn Moore, a first-grader from Marengo Academy; Abbey Polk, a second-grader from WES; and Isabella Brasfield Reid, a first-grader from WES.

Griffin was crowned by the 2007 Little Miss Christmas on the River, Mary-Kendall Glass of Sweet Water. The pageant was chaired by Jennifer Clem.

Griffin joins three other Christmas on the River pageant winners, each of whom was crowned this week. Alexa Beech was crowned Miss Christmas on the River on Saturday, while Katelyn Beshears was named Miss Junior Christmas on the River on Monday and Savana Grace Marshall was named Young Miss Christmas on the River on Wednesday.
