Making history tonight

Tonight, our Demopolis High School Tigers will run out of that renowned tunnel for the final regular season home game at Memorial Stadium.
I hope those of you who enjoy reminiscing enjoyed the package Jeremy Smith prepared for the front page of this edition.
I’m excited for the seniors who will close a historic chapter in Demopolis High School history tonight when the final horn sounds around 10 p.m.
I’m also excited for the underclassmen who will have the opportunity to take the field of the new on-campus stadium next season.
Tomorrow night will be fraught with history and emotion. It can be difficult to push forward when you leave behind such a rich past.
However, next season, whichever school rolls into the Demopolis High School complex and sees that large school positioned just off to the side of that brand new stadium, that will surely strike fear – and a healthy dose of jealousy – into their hearts.
The school’s new stadium will be something the community can be proud of, just as the history that surrounds Memorial Stadium is something to be proud of.
I hope those of you who plan to stay in town tomorrow night will drop in on the game and witness part of history.
Tomorrow night will also be a fitting end to the high school career of our seniors. A capacity crowd tomorrow night would be a fitting end to what proves to be an important night.
