Jim Folsom to stop in Demopolis today

Lt. Governor Jim Folsom announced today that he has been advised by Senator Roger Bedford that the Lt. Governor’s Commission on Public Private Partnerships will hold a regional meeting in Demopolis today.

Bedford, the Chairman of the commission, said the meetings will focus on the West Alabama Highway which is a proposed four-lane road running from Florence to Mobile along the western side of our state. The meeting will take place at 10 a.m. on the campus of Alabama Southern Community College.

Bedford has informed commission members , as well as elected officials in Choctaw, Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry, Sumter, and Wilcox counties , that the Alabama Department of Transportation will provide a briefing on the status of the highway project and will answer questions from those in attendance.

Governor Folsom and representatives from the office of the Speaker of the House, and the Governor’s office are scheduled to attend.

Created during the 2008 legislative session by a joint resolution of the House and Senate, the Lt. Governor’s Commission on Public Private Partnerships was created to explore innovative ways to address the infrastructure needs of the state. The Commission’s first meeting was held in August in Hamilton.
