William Zimmerman

William P. Zimmerman, 88, of Monroe, La., died on Oct. 29, 2008, at St. Francis Medical Center.  Born Nov. 24, 1919, in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Oscar Max and Emilie (Schneider) Zimmerman.
He was the husband of Annabelle Wallace Zimmerman, who died in 2004.
Mr. Zimmerman served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Technician 5th Grade and participated in the campaign of Normandy, northern France, Rhineland and central Europe
After the war, he was employed by PFI and was on the original pulp mill startup team in Lewiston, Idaho.  He continued his career in the paper industry that took him to Demopolis; Ferguson, Miss.; Nackawic, New Brunswick, Canada; and Brazil.  He retired in Monroe, La., in 1984.
Mr. Zimmerman is survived by his son, Merle Charles Zimmerman of Woodville, Texas, and two grandchildren, Julie Marie Zimmerman of Austin, Texas, and Andrew Ryan Zimmerman of Jackson, Wyo.
Memorial Services and internment will take place at a later date at Clarkston Vineland Cemetery in Clarkston, Wash.
