Mabel Irene Davis York, 85, of Aliceville, formerly of Greensboro, passed away from this life on Nov. 21, 2008, in Aliceville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. “Fuzzy” York, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harris P. Davis.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky York (Mark Thrash) of Aliceville; three sons, Bill York of Faunsdale, Jimbo (Sherrie) York of Gallion and Jobey Dawn) York of Hoover; a sister, Henrietta Davis (John) Phares of Greenville, S.C.; five grandchildren, Rebecca York of Tuscaloosa, Jamee York of the Cumberland School of Law, Mary Lemuel York of Gallion, Ben York of Virginia Tech University and Alicia York of Davidson College; and a special friend and caregiver, Loudelia Franklin of Gallion.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Nov. 23, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Burial will follow in Greensboro Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church before the services begin. The Rev. David Pierce will officiate, and Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel will direct.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Averette, Larry Burt, Keith Glover, Ray Johnson, Will Sledge and Tommy Stewart.
