LINDEN – Advanced Disposal welcomed guests to tour their new facility in Linden during their open house on Friday.

More than 50 county and city officials, along with community leaders and area residents, attended the open house at Advanced Disposal’s new location in Linden’s Industrial Park.

Advanced Disposal relocated its county offices to an existing building at the industrial park from Demopolis in October. It was originally built for a trucking operation, making it a perfect facility to operate and maintain a fleet of garbage trucks.

“We have been very pleased with this location since moving in,” said Rory Cassedy, the municipal market developer for Advance Disposal’s Gulf Coast Region. “The Demopolis facility was more suited to a freight

operation. Our new facility gives us the capability to bring our trucks inside to perform maintenance.”

Gerald Green, area president of Advanced Disposal’s Gulf Coast Region, said the move also helped place offices in a more central location for their service area.

“We cover an area as far north as Eutaw down to Thomasville and Grove Hill,” said Green. “We have enjoyed a great working relationship in Demopolis, but needed to make the move to provide better service.”

“Having Advance Disposal in Linden is a great plus for us,” said Linden Mayor Mitzi Gates. “We’re glad to have them come.”

The new site brought 25 jobs to Linden and is expected to bring an additional five in the near future with the construction of a transfer station. Cassedy said Advanced Disposal plans to add the transfer station within a year to 18 months.

“We are building a landfill in Washington County and want to have the transfer station up and going to coincide with it.”
