Construction on the renovated gym at Linden High School is still chugging along, however rainy weather and the holidays have pushed the project back.

“We are still anticipating a mid-January completion,” said Linden school superintendent Scott Collier. “We have had some bad weather that has slowed progress, as well as the holiday season.”

Workers with Eaves Construction endured the drizzling rain Monday to keep the project moving forward without more delays.

“They are getting the walls up and roof now,” said Collier. “It’s looking good.

“We had expected the gym to be ready by Dec. 15 and had scheduled most of our first games away, but of course that did not happen. We are still hopeful we can play at least one of our last games of the season.”

The gym is currently being expanded to be able to hold 500 people. It had held 300. The project cost $914,000.

“It will include a new lobby, concession stand and additional restrooms,” said Collier.
