Gardenias and Camellia’s planted outside the home of Bert and Mary Louise Rosenbush are gifts that keep on giving.

The last several years, the Master Gardeners have plucked the flowers surrounding their country home and spread arrangements around town in various locations.

“We take them to the hospital, the nursing homes, city hall and other places around town,” Bert said. “They’re so pretty, we just think that other people should be able to enjoy them.”

Bert estimated that the flowers were originally planted by his parents more than 50 years ago. Bert and Mary Louise have maintained the buds over the years and the blooms that decorate spots across Demopolis are the fruits of those exact same plants for the past 20-plus years.
