Our Opinion: History in the making, now get to work

Yesterday marked arguably the most historically significant presidential inauguration, second only, possibly, to George Washington because Washington’s was the first. Today, we move forward with Obama’s campaign staples of change.

What direction will that lead us? We won’t know that for several months.

More major national banks are flirting with disaster. The stock market dipped below 8000 on the day of his inauguration — an ominous sign.

As corny as it sounds, we may be in for four years of thinking outside the box. That may be exactly what we need. With an economy to turn around, and more people losing their jobs by the day, a blank check to the American consumer isn’t likely to do much. A logistical attack must be taken. The resolution is out there. It’s buried and mired in piles of problems and opportunities. We hope Obama and his staff are the ones who can find them.
