Body found near Gallion, suspect jailed

A suspect is in jail charged with manslaughter in the death of a Tuscaloosa County man who was reported missing more than two years ago.

Tuscaloosa Metro Homicide investigators recovered the remains of 38-year-old Lance Smelley Wednesday night in Hale County near the town of Gallion.

The victim last seen on Dec. 23, 2006.

Capt. Lloyd Baker, the unit commander, said a tip led officers to Smelley’s body. He would not elaborate.

Arrested was Glenn Norman Dismuke. Police said he was already being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on unrelated charges, including two attempted murder charges.

No motive was released.
