Sunshine is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip against Donoho tonight in the first round of the 1A girls central regional at Alabama State University.

“They’ve got a big girl on the inside. They’ve got a good little point guard,” Sunshine head coach Phillip Wagner said of what he expects his team to encounter tonight in the Acadome. “They’ve got a girl on the wing that, if you leave her out there, she’ll hit some shots.”

Wagner said he expects his team to succeed tonight based on its experience.

“We’ve had some good practices this week,” he said of a group that he characterized as lacking focus during Thursday night’s sub-regional win over Billingsley. “We’ve got to have better shot selection. And we’ve definitely got to be able to rebound and stay out of foul trouble.”

The Lady Tigers made the same trip last season before falling to St. Jude in the finals of the regional tournament.

“This is our fifth time going down there. I’m looking for our experience to show up,” Wagner said. “I’m looking for our playoff experience to take hold.”

If the Lady Tigers defeat Donoho tonight, they will move on to the finals Friday to face the winner of Edward Bell and Akron. That game would tip off at 3:40 p.m.
