Malvin Rose, Jr.

Malvin Benedict “Buddy” Rose, Jr., age 67, of Greensboro passed away on Feb. 27, 2009, at Hale County Hospital in Greensboro.
Rose was born on Nov. 19, 1941, in Hale County to the late Malvin and Thelma Gleaton Rose, Sr. He was employeed at Gulf States Paper Mill for more than 40 years.
He is survived by two sons, Herman “Ben” Rose and Glen R. Rose, both of Greensboro; four sisters, Betty Meigs of North Augusta, S.C., Margaret Ryan of Marion, Ruth Nelson of Greensboro and Patricia Vail of Northport; one brother, Kenneth Rose of Greensboro; and three grandchildren, Andrew Rose, Jacob Rose and Anna Stewart Rose.
Funeral services were held on March 2 at Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery. The Rev. Dee McGuire officiated, and Kirk Funeral Home Greensboro Chapel directed the services.
Active pallbearers were Andrew Rose, Jacob Rose, Shannon Henry, Stacy Fondren, Tanner Ryan and Tyler Landolt.
Honorary pallbearers were Colonial Haven Rehabilitation Center, the employees of Hale Hospital and EMS, and employees and friends of Rock-Tenn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Mr. Rose’s memory to Southern Acedemy General Building Fund, 407 College Street, Greensboro, AL 36744.
