The fifth pair of nominees for the 2009 Athlete of the Year award come from Sweet Water High School.

One is a laid back leader with an electric personality and unflappable composure who utilized his talents to earn four state championship rings in football and lead Bulldog basketball to an area title.

The other is a three-sport starter and standout whose athleticism made him a threat in all phases of each sport.

The tandem represents the fifth of seven sets of nominees to come from each high school in Marengo County.

The Times will announce the winner of the 2009 Athlete of the Year award in its May 23 edition.
