Angelia Mance has left her position as campus director of the Alabama Southern Community College Demopolis campus to take a position at the University of West Alabama.

“An opportunity came along to continue to serve this area, but in a broader capacity,” Mance said. “I have joined the University of West Alabama as director for the Center for Business and Economic Services (CBES) in the College of Business.

“One of my initial tasks will be working to meet the goals of the WIRED grant in partnership with Shelton State Community College. This project has two main objectives: to provide training and support for community development, and to continue and maintain the MyBiz entrepreneur development program.

“My duties as director of the CBES will revolve around serving existing business and industry in our area,” she said. “My responsibilities will include assessing economic development conditions and working to identify opportunities for growth,  developing training and workforce development programs, and assisting in the creation of degree programs for business, economic, and community development. I’ll also work in promoting economic development activities with public and private partners throughout the region.”

Mance served two years as the director of the Demopolis campus of ASCC.

“I’ve enjoyed the past two years as campus director of the Demopolis Campus of Alabama Southern Community College,” she said. “The opportunity to return home to Alabama from Minneapolis and serve the Black Belt and the city of Demopolis and surrounding areas has been a joy.”

Officials at the main office of Alabama Southern Community College were not available for comment.
