Harris Magruder Coleman, age 95, of Sawyerville died on July 18, 2009, at Hospice of West Alabama in Tuscaloosa.
He was born on Aug. 5, 1913, in Sawyerville to the late Bestor Wynne and Alice Walker Coleman.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 21, at 10:30 a.m. at Greensboro Cemetery with Alton Phillips officiating. Kirk Funeral Homes Greensboro Chapel is directing the services.
He is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Coleman Christian, Laura Coleman Bierck and Alice Waller Coleman; two brothers, Bestor Wynne Coleman and Osmund Appling Coleman; and one grandson, Lewis Joshua Lawson.
He is survived by his son, Harris Magruder (Kathy) Coleman Jr. of Sawyerville; his daughter, Mary Coleman (Reid) Lawson of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Mary Quitman (William) Holmes of Greensboro, Amy Lawson (Rhett) Cooper of Tuscaloosa, Kelli Ann Coleman and Kristi Joyce Coleman, both of Auburn; four great-grandchildren, Mary Coleman Chandler, Elizabeth Moore Holmes, Caroline Reid Cooper and Margaret Lewis Cooper; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 361, Greensboro, AL 36744; Hospice of West Alabama, 3851 Loop Road, Tuscaloosa, AL 35404; the Lewis J. Lawson Scholarship Fund; or to the charity of one’s choice.
