The University of West Alabama will have class registration at the Demopolis Higher Education Center on Friday, Aug. 14, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m..

“Students have to apply and be admitted, including transcripts before they can register for UWA classes,” said Angelia Mance, the director of the Demopolis Higher Education Center. “They can apply online at www.uwa.edu. That has to be done prior to registration.”

UWA personnel will be on hand to help with financial aid, admissions and other issues.

Regions Bank will provide lunch that day to students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

“We’ve never had technology courses (at DHEC) before,” Mance said. “We are very excited about that.

“We are also offering a hazardous waste course, which is a federal compliance course so that students who take that earn a federal compliance certificate at the end of the course. For fire departments and police departments, that would be a good opportunity.

“The basic blueprint reading and drafting course will also have a wide range of applications,” she said.

“We will roll out a more full schedule in the spring with more academic offerings.”
