Demopolis mayor Mike Grayson and Demopolis City Council member Thomas Moore were named Wednesday to the Alabama League of Municipalities’ community and economic development committee.

The committee will help develop state municipal policy for the 2009-10 year. On Wednesday, committee members were in Montgomery listening to presentations from resource advisors who administer state and federal programs that affect municipal government.

“What we had Wednesday was just a review of the various agencies that cities can go to for help getting grants or loans to complete projects,” Grayson said.

The committee is chaired by Gadsden council president Ben Reed, and is one of five ALM policy committees composed of municipal officials representing cities of all sizes from the state’s seven Congressional districts. The collective work of the committees will be published in November as a set of proposed policies and goals for 2010.

Other ALM policy committees include the finance, administration and intergovernmental relations; energy, environment and natural resources; human development; and transportation, public safety and communications.
